Find a company that may have similar products or can use your invention and contact their marketing department.
The marketing department is the one that has the most knowledge of the market and if they see a benefit using your invention they will push it thru.

Well said Angela, every inventor must see the possibility of making money from their invention right from the start.
Many inventors fall in love with their creation and lose sight of the fact that some times you need to abandon a failed project and move on.

Here is the information for IAA and their website.
The Inventors Association of Arizona (IAA) is a non-profit organization formed to educate, support and provide a centralized source of information for inventors at all levels.
The synergy of members’ knowledge and experience helps independent inventors navigate the challenging process of developing their product idea through education and networking.
With the right tools and contacts, inventors improve their prospect of turning an idea into reality and successfully bringing it to the market.

Our mission is to help each member move forward toward the next step in the process.

It depends on what your invention is and how much research you did on your own to make sure you will sell the invention in the end. The help of a patent agent or patent attorney is almost always required at some point.

You can license an invention that is Patent Pending.
You can get the patent pending status for 12 months by filing a Provisional Patent Application with USPTO for $65.

A provisional patent application is a low cost placeholder ($65.00) for applicants who qualify for micro-entity status that establishes a filing date for an invention but will not result in a patent on its own.

You can always find a Patent Attorney or Patent Agent in your area using our Patent Attorney Directory or just use Google.
